Dodge Has Announced the Penultimate Vehicle for the “Last Call” Lineup

On September 21, 2022, Dodge announced the penultimate vehicle participating in their special “Last Call” lineup with the special-edition 2023 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost. Dodge has said that it will be a modern-day vision that makes excellent use of the HEMI-powered spirit from the muscle car that once haunted the famous Woodward Avenue in Detroit in the 1970s. The first ever Black Ghost that ruled over Woodward Avenue was a black 1970 Dodge Challenger RT SE (Special Edition) owned by Godfrey Qualls. This Challenger earned the legendary reputation for its 426 HEMI-powered muscle on Woodward before disappearing mysteriously into the night without being seen again for months. This is what gave it the “Black Ghost” nickname, making it not just a local legend but earning a spot on the National Historic Vehicle Register in 2020 (an honor that remains in the Qualls family to this day).
The 2023 Dodge “Black Ghost” Muscle Car
The ‘23 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost will be the modern manifestation of the historic 70s vehicle, paying homage to it through the unique black “gator skin” roof vinyl graphics similar to the original and the wrapping black-and-chrome appearance. This vehicle is the sixth of seven special edition Dodge “Last Call” vehicles in the lineup, following the Dodge Challenger Shakedown, Dodge Charger Super Bee, Dodge Challenger and Charger Scat Pack Swinger, and Dodge Charger King Daytona. One final vehicle remains to be announced, and enthusiasts will have to wait until the 2022 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, which is scheduled for November 1-4, to see what it will be.
Tim Kuniskis, Dodge brand chief executive officer – Stellantis, had this to say about the vehicle and the lineup of the “Last Call” models “There are so many legendary muscle cars in Dodge brand history, it was hard to choose the seven vehicles we wanted to pay homage to with our Last Call lineup, but the Black Ghost was an easy pick. The 2023 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost is the prelude to what we’re going to unveil with our seventh and final special-edition model.”
The 2023 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost and the rest of the “Last Call” lineup will be distributed to specific dealerships with dealer and pricing information to come this fall.
