The Ram 1500 Revolution BEV is Here to Steal the Show

On January 5th, 2023, Ram finally revealed the ideas behind its all-new electrified vehicle at the Consumer Electronics Show. The pickup truck bears the name Ram 1500 Revolution Battery-electric Vehicle (BEV) Concept. It showcases an entirely new yet identifiable Ram configuration with the potential for segment-changing technology, range, and capability. At this point, the vehicle is still in concept form. Still, from what can be seen, the exterior design focuses on extensive daytime running lights that emphasize the higher and lower sections of the light clusters and an enormous “R-A-M” nameplate with an animated full LED “tuning fork” headlight design. All in all, the arrangement establishes quite a robust look.
The front is shorter than the typical Ram pickup truck, which was done purposely to augment the size of the passenger compartment for a greater amount of space. A profile view of the 1500 Revolution BEV Concept unveils a very polished aesthetic for a truck. The A-pillar is also set back at quite a striking angle, and in conjunction with the black roof, it gives the automobile a lower appearance compared to other pickup trucks. Frankly, it seems rather sporty, even though it has yet to be determined if it is just as sporty when driven.
To give some context to the concept, Mike Koval Jr., Ram brand CEO, elaborates: “The Ram 1500 Revolution BEV Concept is our clearest signal yet that we’re on the precipice of something extraordinary at Ram and points directly to where we’re going on our electrified journey.”
The Interior Cabin
If possible, Ram decided on an even more futuristic method to design the vehicle’s interior than the outside. The usual screen in front of the driver that acts as a digital gauge cluster is no more. Instead, the driver can rely on digital side-view mirrors and augmented reality (AR) head-up display (HUD) to see pivotal data transmitted onto the windscreen. The pickup truck has two stacked 14-inch landscape touchscreens in the middle of the dashboard. The lower unit has three different positions depending upon what the driver needs to accomplish – minimal view, comprehensive view, and full-screen view – and can be removed and utilized in various locations of the automobile.
The Ram 1500 Revolution BEV Concept also combines cutting-edge technology to enhance convenience and safety. For example, the truck provides cameras rather than the standard side mirrors and an advanced 360-degree camera system with a smart backup camera that permits the driver to view their surroundings with better accuracy, helping to prevent accidents and increase safety, mainly when backing up to a trailer. It is still being determined if all of these features will make it into production. Still, assuming they do, the Ram 1500 Revolution BEV will undoubtedly be one of the foremost pickup trucks available on the market. However, one feature that has been confirmed is a fold-away third row that has come into being because of several flexible seating configurations that allow for exceedingly more interior volume.
Battery Capacity
Although there is no official word on battery capacity yet, Ram has asserted that the EV will be powered by two electric drive modules (EDMs). The pickup also runs on an 800-volt structure that allows charging speeds of up to 350 kW, enough to add 100 miles of range in 10 minutes. With this notion, Ram is displaying a concept called inductive robot charger, with the much simpler name of Ram Charger, to be designated for home use. Another interesting tidbit of information is that Ram will provide a range-extender, which none of its competitors currently have.
