2023 Ram Heavy Duty
The 2023 Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty pickup trucks have a good deal of high technology features, stout towing capability, and some of the most sophisticated interiors on the market for heavy-duty trucks. Simultaneously, they represent the top of the heap for the Ram brand when it comes to maximum towing capacity. For the off-road-minded buyer, the Power Wagon and Rebel trims combine work and adventure with ease.

Engine Type
Beneath the hood of each 2023 Ram 2500/3500 is the possibility of three engines. Standard power in all trims comes from a 410-horsepower 6.4-liter V-8, which produces 429 pound-feet of torque while being paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This is the only engine and transmission provided in the Power Wagon, which is exclusively four-wheel drive. Nevertheless, every other trim is also offered with a 6.7-liter Cummins diesel inline-six engine with either rear- or four-wheel drive. Two variations of the diesel are available. The first is available in both 2500 and 3500 versions and accelerates up to 370 horsepower and makes 850 pound-feet of torque. There is also a 400-horsepower high-output iteration, but it is only offered on the 3500 and makes an astounding 1,075 pound-feet of torque.
What’s new for 2023?
For 2023, a new Rebel trim has been included in the Ram Heavy Duty lineup. The off-road-oriented trim is presented with skid plates, an electronically locking rear differential, and a lifted suspension. The Rebel is an exclusive offer for the 2500 version but can be ordered with either the diesel or gasoline powertrain; four-wheel drive is considered standard. To make life attached to a trailer a little less strenuous, the 2023 Ram Heavy Duty trucks also come equipped with Trailer Reverse Steering control as an option, which facilitates a sometimes drudging driving maneuver.

Exterior Features
The 2023 Ram Heavy Duty pickup trucks have a rugged, timeless look about them. There is an available RamBox Cargo Management System that provides two lockable, drainable storage bins with LED lighting, plus a 115-Volt/400-Watt Bed Outlet in the rear of the truck bed on the driver’s side. This feature is useful due to its ability to power equipment and tools and is easily accessed with the flip of a switch. In addition, there is radiant LED lighting integrated into the cargo lamp and bed. A Mopar Sport Performance Hood is also included with the Laramie and Limited trims. Moreover, the new telescopic trailer tow mirrors can extend and retract to provide more flexibility when parking in tight locations.
Interior Features
The 2023 Ram’s numerous trim levels and cab designs mean its interior features can vary extensively in terms of quality and quantity. A single cab, a spacious four-door Crew Cab, and the gargantuan Mega Cab – which boasts the largest rear seat in the segment – are available. The Ram gets luxury-level detailing, with the top Longhorn trim even receiving striped wood and gold trim on the doors, gauges, and dash, along with the Longhorn logo hand-branded into the wood on the truck’s upper glove box door. The cabin also benefits from expansive interior cubby storage, and every Ram Heavy Duty comes outfitted with standard acoustic glass and active noise cancellation.
Technology
Entertainment
The 2023 Ram Heavy Duty trucks are equipped with an intuitive system, sporting simple menus and prompts. It also responds quickly to user inputs and features an 8.0-inch touchscreen unit. Not only that, Ram offers a large 12.0-inch reconfigurable touchscreen display. The system also incorporates a subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspot, navigation, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. The pickup truck’s interior even has five USB ports for the occupants’ devices.
Safety Features and Warranty
Both the Ram 2500 and 3500 can be equipped with a long list of driver-assistance technology, including available blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, automated emergency braking, and forward-collision warning. There is also Rear Seat Reminder Alert, which can remind the driver to check the rear seats for important cargo before leaving the vehicle. LaneSense Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist is an available feature that helps avoid unintentional lane drifts. As for warranty, Ram provides its two heavy-duty automobiles with a limited warranty that covers three years or 36,000 miles and a gas powertrain warranty that covers five years or 60,000 miles. Meanwhile, the diesel powertrain warranty covers five years or 100,000 miles.
