Stellantis Brands Sweep 2023 TAWA Awards

Stellantis recently won numerous prizes at the 2023 Texas Automotive Writers Association (TAWA) Auto Roundup. The event occurred between March 26th and 28th at Eagles Canyon Raceway in Decatur, Texas. TAWA hosts two driving events each year – the Texas Auto Roundup in the spring and the Texas Truck Rodeo in the fall. Automotive journalists and content creators from across the country tested a cross-section of the world’s most capable vehicles. Media members took delight in driving and assessing new vehicles competing for the highly-valued Family Vehicle of Texas and Truck of Texas. The March occasion witnessed victories taken by the Alfa Romeo, Dodge, and Chrysler brands for a total of seven titles.
The Wins in Each Segment
The all-new Dodge Hornet won the Crossover Utility Vehicle of Texas title and received Best New Interior, Best Value, and Best New Feature awards for its PowerShot feature, which supplies a burst of 30 horsepower for the Dodge Hornet R/T. In addition, the “Last Call” limited edition 2023 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost received the honor of the Performance Vehicle of Texas award. Meanwhile, Chrysler’s Pacifica Hybrid dominated the competition by winning the Minivan category for the seventh consecutive year. To top it all off, voters crowned the Alfa Romeo victorious, with the model taking home a win in the Midsize SUV segment.
How the Vehicles Stand Apart
As it stands, the criteria for gaining votes during the assessment process depend upon each vehicle’s performance, interior, value, exterior, and overall personal appeal. For example, the Dodge Hornet provides class-exclusive and best-in-class performance features. At the same time, the Dodge Challenger SRT Black Ghost is a special-edition trim that commemorates the end of the HEMI-engine-powered Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger.
The Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid is the only plug-in hybrid (PHEV) in its segment, with an all-electric range of more than 30 miles and more than 80 miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe). The Pacifica Hybrid is also the only minivan eligible for a $7,500 federal tax credit, as well as any available state and local tax credits. The Alfa Romeo Stelvio, on the other hand, is a premium midsize SUV that delivers design, technology, and performance. As a matter of fact, the vehicle recently received updates for 2023, including the new limited-edition Estrema and Lusso trims.
