On March 5, 2024, the time finally came for Dodge to draw the curtains and reveal the next generation of the brand’s muscle car lineup. Until now, enthusiasts have made educated guesses based on leaks and rumors to determine what to expect from Dodge. Now, the fog of wonder has cleared with the global debut of the world’s first electric muscle car and the automaker’s first multi-energy muscle car. That is correct, the Hurricane engine has made its way to Dodge for those drivers not wanting a full electric vehicle. However, they will just have to wait a little longer.

The next-generation Dodge Charger has a few options available, including the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack, accelerating up to 670 horsepower. It is also expected to reach zero to 60 miles per hour in just 3.3 seconds and run a quarter-mile in an estimated 11.5 seconds. Additionally, electrified models will incorporate the 496-horsepower 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T. Of note, the unveiling of the electric vehicle is set to be a replacement for the iconic Challenger. That is just getting started, though. There are bound to be even more radical Charger Daytona vehicles on the way.

Options Revolving Around Dodge’s Latest Innovation

Taking inspiration from the original Charger Daytona of 1969 with its pumped up rear quarter panels and sloping belt line, the design is a tasteful reinterpretation of the classic shape. Indeed, it appears Dodge has mined the spirit of its earlier muscle cars deeper than ever. It acknowledges as such, saying only how it “avoids excess” and takes its cues “from the clean, timeless lines of its predecessors.” Moreover, the Fratzog image seen in the teaser makes a return with illuminated Fratzog badges flanking the front and rear of the car, paying homage to the early days of Dodge muscle.

For those customers searching for something other than an electric vehicle, the all-new Dodge Charger will offer performance choices via multi-energy powertrain options–the 550-horsepower Dodge Charger SIXPACK H.O. powered by the 3.0-liter Twin Turbo Hurricane High Output engine and the standard 420-horsepower Dodge Charger SIXPACK S.O. fueled by the 3.0-liter Twin Turbo Hurricane Standard Output engine. All models will come equipped with all-wheel drive. To clarify, that is a 3.0-liter six-cylinder, all-wheel-drive liftback Dodge Charger. Those readers thoroughly familiar with the manufacturer will recall that is the recipe for the Dodge Stealth from the 1990s.

Two-Door and Four-Door Charger Cars

Even though the concept car was only seen as a coupe, for production, Dodge is offering the Charger in two- and four-door versions. That means electric and combustion models will also feature two- and four-door variants. Both models provide a hatch for improved access to 37.4 cubic feet of cargo space with the seat folded. Two-door coupe variants of the all-electric 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack and 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T will begin production mid-2024.

The gas-propelled two-door Dodge Charger SIXPACK H.O. is scheduled to begin production in the first quarter of 2025 and will be built at the Stellantis Windsor Assembly plant. At the time of writing, the exact dimensions for the gas-powered Dodge Charger are unavailable, but readers can assume it is similar to the electric vehicle, excluding variations in weight.
