Jeep’s latest venture has car enthusiasts buzzing. On May 30, 2024, the automaker drastically altered its course and unveiled its most significant advancement to date – the battery-electric 2024 Wagoneer S. This fresh face in the SUV segment is expected to have a market debut in the United States and Canada in the fall of 2024, with a starting price tag of $71,995 MSRP (including the destination fee). The reveal of the all-electric Wagoneer S is being touted as a new chapter for Jeep. In an interview following the reveal, Jeep CEO, Antonio Filosa, affirmed his belief that this revolutionary product will significantly help the brand.
“The launch of the all-electric Jeep Wagoneer S marks a new chapter in the storied history of the Jeep brand…This first global EV will introduce a whole new generation of owners to an experience that is distinctly Jeep and 100 percent electric in every way. With new energy in the Jeep vehicle lineup, ranging from EV to V-8, customers have never had more freedom to choose their own adventure.”

- With quick acceleration and 600 horsepower, the Wagoneer S rivals the Tesla Model Y in the competitive EV SUV segment.
- Jeep’s Wagoneer S marks the start of a new electrified era for the brand, utilizing Stellantis’ innovative STLA platform for electric vehicles (EVs).
- Jeep’s “Freedom of Choice” strategy sees the manufacturer offering an array of propulsion options, beginning with the Wagoneer S.
Electrified Architecture
This new Jeep is the first vehicle built on the STLA Large electric platform. The Wagoneer S utilizes a 400-volt, 100-kilowatt-hour battery pack, and the initial range is over 300 miles on a charge. The Launch Edition includes a 48-amp Level 2 home charger or an equivalent in public charger credits through the automaker’s Free2move Charge application.
The vehicle’s front and rear motors make a combined 600 horsepower and 617 pound-feet of torque, enabling a run from zero to 60 miles per hour in just 3.4 seconds. Fast acceleration is a massive selling point for many automakers, and Jeep recently unveiled a video of the Wagoneer S drag racing a Tesla Model Y.
To improve range, the front drive module disconnects when four-wheel traction is not necessary. The Wagoneer S has full-time four-wheel drive (4WD) and selectable drive modes, including Sport, Sand, Snow, or Eco. The brand claims the body is 35 percent stiffer than other midsize Jeep SUVs, translating into a quiet and serene ride.
The Exterior of the Jeep Wagoneer S
The two-row, five-passenger electric vehicle shares only a fraction of its design with its larger, three-row, gas-powered sibling, making it a completely different vehicle besides some shared Jeep aesthetics. The front end is closed in since there is no need for engine cooling, but a seven-slot grille is a must for a Jeep, so an illuminated strip with dividers lends it that appearance.
The rear finishes with a wing-style roof spoiler that improves aerodynamics and range. Indeed, with a 0.29 drag coefficient, this is the most aerodynamic vehicle Jeep has ever assembled. The Wagoneer S Launch Edition also incorporates 20-inch wheels, a hands-free liftgate, a gloss-black roof and trim accents, and a dual-pane panoramic sunroof for an open-air experience.
The Interior of the Jeep Wagoneer S
The Wagoneer S does not look like the gasoline Wagoneer on the outside, but the cabin design has a family resemblance. As mentioned, unlike the three-row gas-propelled variant, the “S” handles a maximum of five occupants. Moreover, rather than a large center tablet, the Wagoneer S boasts numerous screens.
For context, the total screen space is 45 inches, including a central 12.3-inch display unit. The conscious choice of sustainable material adds another eco-friendly touch to the vehicle. For example, to increase the sustainable mindset surrounding the automobile, wood usage has been opted out of the interior.
