Jeep and Ram Trucks Shine Bright at the 2020 Gold Winch Awards
The Fast Lane Truck (TFLtruck), a publication dedicated to all things pickup trucks, deemed two Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) vehicles worthy of a few of its 2020 Gold Winch awards. The 2020 Jeep Gladiator (in its launch model year) earned the Gold Winch award for the Best Mid-size Off-Road truck of the year. The 2020 Ram Power Wagon, on the other hand, earned the Gold Winch award for being the Best Heavy Duty Off-Road truck of the year.
“The competition was very tough this year. In the end, the Jeep Gladiator Rubicon stood above the rest based on its raw off-road capability and the fun aspect of top-down doors-off adventure driving. The final decision was unanimous,” said Andre Smirnov, managing editor at TFLtruck.com. “The Ram Power Wagon won the 2020 Gold Winch award due to its laser focus on off-road capability and equipment. It still has the best suspension flex, many trim options and an included winch to boot,” added Smirnov.
Editors over at TFLtruck are responsible for testing vehicles for Gold Winch evaluations, taking the trucks on grueling off-road paths in Colorado. High elevations and varying terrain — ranging from loose gravel to rocks and snow — make Colorado a perfect place to put these vehicles to the test. The 2020 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon won judges over thanks to its overall performance not only on-road, but off-road as well. Like we mentioned earlier, the Gladiator unanimously won judges over.
Judges were also deeply impressed with the Ram Power Wagon and its off-road capability and equipment. The Ram Power Wagon that TFLtruck put to the test included a unique suspension, a 2-inch factory lift, a disconnecting front sway bar, and 12,000 lb. winch, and locking front and rear differentials. These attributes helped push the Ram Power Wagon to the top of its respective category. Once all the votes were counted, the 2020 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon and 2020 Ram Power Wagon were deemed the winners of each respective segment.
In order to be eligible for Gold Winch awards, trucks must be of the model year in question, although trucks from previous model years are also accepted as long as they have not significantly changed for 2020. Trucks can only qualify for the award if they were tested prior to March 1, 2020.
