All That’s New on the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee

September 16th, 2020 by

The fourth-generation Grand Cherokee model made its debut in 2010, and although automotive experts often chastise it for its age, the SUV remains a very popular choice for many buyers. In fact, Jeep sold a total of 242,969 units in 2019 — making it the best year for what’s often considered an aging SUV. Jeep plans on debuting the next-generation Grand Cherokee in 2021, but the brand’s made several adjustments to the current offering. Here’s what buyers can expect from the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Although there isn’t much to add before this generation closes up shop, Jeep did add a special Grand Cherokee to the lineup to commemorate the brand’s 80th anniversary. It’ll feature 18-inch Granite Crystal wheels, along with commemorative exterior badging, and more. On the interior, there’s leather upholstery, as well as Light Tungsten accents throughout the cabin. Overall, Jeep pretty much matched what they delivered on the previous 75th Anniversary models.

Jeep also included its ProTech II Package as a standard on the 80th Anniversary Edition Grand Cherokee. The package offers a suite of safety features including LaneSense Lane Departure Warning With Lane Keep Assist, Advanced Brake Assist, and Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning With Active Braking. Other features, such as Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Perpendicular Park Assist, and rain-sensing windshield wipers are also included with the ProTech II Package.

The Grand Cherokee Limited trim now offers a new Sun and Sound Package, which includes a nine-speaker audio system and a dual-pane sunroof. Meanwhile, the Grand Cherokee Limited X trim carries over to 2021 and includes an all gloss black exterior detailing. After not including the Limited X trim on the previous year’s lineup, Jeep returns it with a vengeance and it includes features such as an 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen display, a power rear liftgate, front seat heaters, and a vinyl and suede interior. The steering wheel is not only wrapped in leather, but it’s heated as well. As for the standard Laredo trim, it’ll now offer 18-inch painted machine cast-aluminum wheels for the 2021 model year.

No drastic changes in store for the 2021 Grand Cherokee, but once the new generation arrives it’ll have big shoes to fill as the SUV remains the most awarded of all time according to Jeep.
