The 2021 Jeep Cherokee Limited LUX Brings Affordable Luxury
Jeep revealed its Cherokee lineup is getting an additional trim for the 2021 model year: introducing the 2021 Jeep Cherokee Latitude LUX. The automaker has slowly-but-surely been adding luxurious accents and features throughout its lineup over the past few model years. This latest SUV even bears the LUXury appeal right in its name. Past Cherokee trims have received high marks from renowned consumer-oriented analysts such as J.D. Power. The organization deemed the Cherokee the third most popular vehicle on its 2018 list of 10 Most Popular Midsize SUVs and Crossovers.
Additionally, J.D. Power even rated the Jeep Cherokee a 5 out of 5 in its 2019 list of Highest Quality Family SUVs. High-priced luxury brands may experience economic insecurity throughout the pandemic. Still, the Jeep Cherokee Latitude LUX has a starting MSRP in the low $30,000 range that’s sure to help it land on numerous “affordable luxury” lists in the future.
“The new 2021 Cherokee Latitude LUX truly enhances the Jeep lineup and is a direct reflection of what our customers want and value the most in their vehicle — everyday practicality, exceptional comfort, with outstanding ride and handling characteristics. As the most capable midsize sport-utility vehicle, the Jeep Cherokee continues to offer consumers the ultimate blend of all-weather 4×4 capability and even more standard amenities at an incredible value,” said Jim Morrison, Head of Jeep Brand — FCA North America.
The 2021 Cherokee LUX is powered by a standard 3.2-liter Pentastar V6 engine with 271 horsepower and 239 lb-ft of torque. When equipped with one of Jeep’s available towing packages, the Cherokee Limited LUX is certified to tow up to 4,500 lbs. Buyers can also opt for an optional 2.0-liter turbocharged engine paired with an electronic start-stop system for only $695 more. The turbocharged 2.0-liter engine offers buyers 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are paired with the same standard nine-speed automatic transmission.
A nifty standard addition on the Cherokee LUX is Jeep’s Selec-Terrain traction control system that comes with five different drive modes and a rear-axle disconnect that improves fuel economy by disengaging the 4×4 power when it’s not needed. The interior of the Cherokee LUX comes with standard Nappa leather seats, a heated steering wheel, power and heated seats with a power lumbar adjuster, remote start, and automatic windshield wipers. For even more luxury, Jeep also offers a package that adds an 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen display, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, and a nine-speaker Alpine sound system.
Jeep didn’t announce any significant changes to the exterior design of the 2021 Cherokee — on any trim level. Still, those interested in buying one have numerous exterior color options to choose from Sangria, Slate Blue, Sting Grey, Billet Silver, Velvet Red, Olive Green, Bright White, Granite Crystal, Light Brownstone, Spitfire Orange, and Diamond Black Crystal. The 80th Anniversary Edition of the Jeep Cherokee has an exclusive Hydro Blue exterior color option as well.
