Introducing the Latest Jeep Concept: Jeep Gladiator Top Dog
Mopar designers are back and better than ever as they transformed an existing 2020 Jeep Gladiator into a fun concept vehicle. Using exclusive Jeep Performance Parts and other custom accessories, Mopar developed a fun concept vehicle for those who love mountain biking.
“Loaded with nearly 20 Jeep Performance Parts, we built this go-anywhere Jeep Gladiator Top Dog Concept for passionate mountain bike enthusiasts. Across the entire Jeep lineup, we offer more than 500 quality-tested, factory-backed parts, and accessories,” said Mark Bosanac, Head of Mopar Service, Parts and Customer Care, FCA — North America.
The Jeep Top Dog Concept has a K-9 Blue exterior that expands the pickup’s overall cargo-carrying capabilities thanks to a few changes. Mopar and Jeep went ahead and removed the standard cargo box on the Gladiator and replaced it with a simple flatbed storage system. On the passenger side of said storage system, there are pull-out drawers intended to secure tools and supplies for mountain bikers who may need them while out on the trail. The cargo system also has large interior storage shelves, while exterior lighting switches and other power supplies are all within arm’s length. On the opposite side, there’s a battery-powered refrigerator and an electric hot-dog roller grill that’s ready to be fired up when riders need to refuel on the trail.
Mopar placed two rack structures above the cab area so they provide additional storage space for more tools and equipment, while dual concept exterior task lights are mounted on each side along with some traction mats designed for use during vehicle recovery and extraction. Above that rack structure lies a dual bike rack that makes it simple to transport mountain bikes to the trails.
When it comes to off-road capability, the Jeep Top Dog concept outdoes itself with a Jeep Performance Parts two-inch lift kit, FOX shocks, increased ground clearance, 37-inch BFGoodrich mud-terrain tires, and 17-inch Beadlock-capable aluminum wheels. Additionally, the concept also features high-top fender flares that add supplemental clearance at all four corners. Beneath its hood, the Jeep Top Dog continues to impress with its proven 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine with 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, all while mated to a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission.
“Built to handle the demands of an active lifestyle and offering one-of-a-kind open-air freedom, Jeep Gladiator is the perfect canvas for Mopar to push the envelope even further with the addition of an array of Jeep Performance Parts. Mopar’s new Top Dog Concept results in even more clever functionality and versatility for Jeep Gladiator,” said Jim Morrison, Head of Jeep Brand — FCA North America.
The front end of the Jeep Top Dog Concept includes a two-inch steel grille guard and an 8,000-lb-capacity Rubicon Warn winch that’s equipped with 100 feet of Spydura synthetic rope. Black Mopar hood latches with the Willys logo accent the custom concept hood, while a Jeep Performance Parts snorkel directs cool air into the engine to make up for off-road conditions destabilizing the usual air inlets. There is also a set of five-inch, off-road LED lights that help illuminate the trails. Rock rails, customized with two-inch steel tubes, protect the side of the vehicle, while Black door guards help protect the interior sills from scuffs and scratches.
