The 2022 “Two-Row” Jeep Grand Cherokee
The new 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L is available for sale at Jeep dealerships around the country; however, the two-row-only model is still waiting for its official debut. There are no significant changes except that it’s smaller than the Cherokee L, eliminating passenger seating in the third row. It is currently in pre-production form, but some spy photos are available online that showcase the new two-row Grand Cherokee without its pre-production masking vinyl. In addition, an all-electric 4xe model is currently in the works and will be released in the future.
The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee (Two-Row)
The two-row version of the Grand Cherokee is virtually the same as the L-Model at the front and the rear. The main difference is the side profile and its length. The window panels have a more compact form than the L-Model ones, and the rear doors are not as wide. Toward the rear of the two-row Grand Cherokee, the rear window has a “cut-away” design and contours nicely rather than having a flat design like the L-Model.
Specifications and Pricing
Trim levels and similar pricing figures carry over from the outgoing Grand Cherokee to the 2022 two-row Grand Cherokee. This means a starting price tag of about $34,970 for the base trim and even as high as $54,085 for some of the higher trims. (Pricing figures are subject to change to accommodate destination fees and additional equipment). Jeep offers two main engine options: a 5.7 L HEMI V8 and the more fuel-efficient 3.6 L V6 Pentastar engine. However, Jeep plans to electrify the Grand Cherokee nameplate for the first time with its signature 4xe technology and incorporate it with plug-in hybrid components.
Electrification Leads to the 4xe model
Jeep is investing in its electric vehicle infrastructure, which means gradually cutting down on vehicles that operate on gasoline powertrains. Therefore, the 707hp Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is likely to be on the chopping block allowing the company to focus more of its efforts on electric and hybrid powertrains rather than large HEMI gasoline engines. But a performance Jeep is still possible shortly if Jeep decides to take that route.
Buying a New 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Prospective buyers need to wait until the end of this year to get behind the wheel of a brand new two-row 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It will arrive in late Fall 2021 and with an available 4xe plug-in hybrid option for consumers seeking a boost in driving range. However, it’s not sure what powertrain setup the 4xe model will use until Jeep reveals more information in the next few months.
