The 2024 Chrysler Pacifica is the latest car in the minivan segment, and it is taking the class by storm. It specializes in being a family-friendly, utilitarian vehicle with unmatched practicality. The interior is made to be increasingly pragmatic, while a potent powertrain allows the minivan to move with a sense of urgency while maintaining a steady performance throughout. All in all, the Chrysler Pacifica is an honest, simple, and down-to-earth family car.Ā
The 40th Anniversary
Chrysler is celebrating a significant milestone as it starts production of the 2024 Chrysler Pacifica. The 2023 model year marks the 40th anniversary of the minivan – a segment envisioned by the original Chrysler Corporation. The first generation of minivans debuted on November 2, 1983, when the Plymouth Voyager rolled off the line at the Windsor Assembly plant in Ontario, Canada. It paved the way for over 15 million Chryslerāand later Stellantisāminivans sold to date. In addition to bringing the first minivan to market, the automaker has remained at the forefront of the segment by continuing to innovate new features.Ā
For the 2024 model year, the Pacifica lineup receives numerous updates, beginning with a new sepia interior color for the premium Pacifica Pinnacle trim and two fresh exterior hues dubbed Baltic Gray and Red Hot. The Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid lineup will now present two trims: the Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid Select and the Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid Pinnacle.
The Benefits of All-New Trims
Moreover, the 2024 Pacifica vehicles come outfitted with an Emergency Vehicle Alert System (EVAS) feature as part of the UConnect 5 platform. This component provides drivers with crucial notifications of nearby emergency vehicles and other roadway hazards through the touchscreen and cluster within the automobile. Chris Feuell, Chrysler brand CEO at Stellantis, expressed pride in the manufacturerās contribution to family memories and emphasized the minivanās enduring role, especially as Chrysler looks forward to an all-electric vehicle portfolio by 2028.Ā
Indeed, the automaker has continuously pushed the boundaries of the minivan segment with innovations like the Stow ān Go seating and storage system, dual hands-free sliding doors, the Uconnect Theater, and the hybrid-electric powertrain.
The Available Powertrains
Speaking of powertrains, the 2024 Chrysler Pacifica comes with a selection of two powertrains. The first powertrain is the standard 3.6-liter V-6 engine that delivers 287 horsepower and goes from zero to 60 miles per hour in 7.3 seconds. The second available powertrain is a 3.6-liter V-6 engine paired with two electric hybrid motors to deliver 260 horsepower while going from zero to 60 miles per hour in 7.8 seconds. Both engines are mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. The standard engine has a maximum towing capacity of 3,600 pounds. The Pacifica comes standard with front-wheel drive, while all-wheel drive is an available option.Ā
The Minivan is Braced with Staying Power
Recently, Chrysler celebrated the production of the 100,000th Chrysler Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid, which remains the only plug-in hybrid in its segment. The Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid represents a pivotal step as Chrysler progresses toward an electrified future. It is worth noting that the 2024 Chrysler Pacifica and Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid will begin reaching dealerships in October of this year (2023). The latest models continue Chryslerās minivan evolution from its humble K-car beginnings over its remarkable 40-year journey.Ā
