On the afternoon of March 1, 2023, Dodge unleashed its second clue about the final “Last Call” ultimate Dodge performance vehicle. All will be revealed on March 20, 2023, at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Still, enthusiasts are left puzzled about how a 7.1-pound fiendish leprechaun can be related to the event. That is the crux of the latest teaser video from the brand. It is titled Density Matters, and in short, it highlights the oversized, devilish leprechaun created in the previous Last Call teaser stepping onto a scale. The lanky, impish leprechaun is poised at his side, and when all is said and done, oversized and devilish is 7.1 pounds heavier than his gaunt counterpart. As speculation runs amok, this could imply that the special edition muscle car in question, rumored to accelerate to over 900 horsepower, is only 7.1 pounds heavier than the Dodge Challenger Demon.

Hypothesis #1

The hypothesis could pose a perfectly valid explanation if taken at face value. After all, increasing horsepower with only minimal weight gain is a feat in and of itself, but utilizing the term density in the title of the teaser has fans pondering on a broader scale. To clarify the situation, density is the measure of mass in a unit of volume. Regarding automobiles, density represents how much cargo can be accommodated within a given space. Creating massive horsepower is about fitting as much fuel and air into an engine as possible.

Hypothesis #2

With that in mind, it is also possible that the mysterious number of 7.1 pounds represents boost pressure. It is highly unlikely to indicate the total output, as the reality-altering horsepower of standard 6.2-liter Hellcat engines has already proven to be well past that, and Redeye trims are even higher. Due to the teaser showcasing a comparison between eerily disturbing creatures on a scale, the hint could be attributed to 7.1 more pounds of boost over a Hellcat. According to Dodge aficionados, a supercharger engine would have to force out between twenty and twenty-five pounds of boost, which is responsible for a power jolt.

Hypothesis #3

There is another possibility, although it could be on the far-fetched side of the scenario. The following is a theory that some commenters on Dodge’s social media channels have emphasized: Dodge provides the Hellephant 426 cubic-inch V-8 as a crate engine with a displacement of 7.0 liters. Given just a touch of power, that could be a 7.1-liter HEMI. The issue that detractors have with the aforementioned argument is that adding a completely different engine that already makes more than the rumored 909-plus horsepower and, for that matter, may not even meet emission standards seems somewhat implausible for a limited-production vehicle. Still, all possibilities should be considered, as concrete information regarding the performance car remains scarce.

Thus far, the teasers have underscored a demonic-like visage with red eyes that transforms into a hulking leprechaun courtesy of a golden IV of fluid, and it has 7.1 more pounds of something that has yet to be identified. Another guess is that a Dodge Challenger SRT Demon Redeye could be set up to withstand E85 high-octane fuel and run 20-plus pounds of boost. Indeed, that would undoubtedly be a wickedly accelerated ride.

However, all must wait with bated breath until March 20, 2023, when the covers finally lift on what should allegedly be the most powerful performance car ever produced by Dodge.
