The 2023 Auto Show season is going full speed ahead, and while most shows continue to dwindle in size, the Chicago Auto Show plows on for its 115th edition. Held in McCormick Place South Building, the Chicago show displays numerous North American and world introductions, not to mention the total spectrum of imported and domestic sport-utility vehicles, passenger cars, trucks, minivans, and concept and experimental cars. In total, the Chicago Auto Show exhibits nearly hundreds of distinct automobiles from nineteen different manufacturers. Additionally, it features several vehicular accessories and car-related presentations, project cars, interactive exhibits, collector and antique automobiles, and competition vehicles.
The Chicago Auto Show continues to be one of the largest automotive shows in the country. Before its public premiere on Saturday, February 11th, 2023, there will be two full days of media coverage on Wednesday and Thursday at McCormick Place in Downtown Chicago. Courtesy of the media schedule revealed before the event, fans know Stellantis has two press conferences scheduled on Thursday, February 9th, 2023, for both the Jeep and Ram Truck brands. As is the standard custom, the Jeep and Ram automakers are renowned for promoting awe-inspiring debuts at the Chicago event.
What Jeep has in Store
As of the 2022 model year, Jeep showcased its redesigned 2022 Jeep Compass for the North American marketplace. The brand displayed Compass’s refreshed exterior and an all-new interior. Even though there are no exact details yet regarding what Jeep plans to unveil, it is highly expected that the company will be drawing the most attention to the all-new powertrain underneath the 2023 Compass. For a better perspective of what the automaker will likely demonstrate, the 2023 Compass is equipped with a brand new 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine, mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive.
Camp Jeep returns to the Chicago Auto Show for the 19th consecutive year. Since it first launched in 2004, Camp Jeep has attracted a steady stream of attention by providing millions of free off-road test track rides in all of the latest Jeep SUVs to enthusiasts throughout the entire country. A highly-anticipated moment at the event will surely be when the three millionth ride is given at this year’s (2023) Chicago Auto Show. Each free ride is approximately five minutes in length.
There is also an exhibit that stretches 28,000 square feet, providing participants with an interactive adventure zone, which entails that professional drivers give riders a unique chance to get involved with off-road capabilities on the tallest 28-foot high Jeep Mountain, with a 45-degree incline and departure angles.
What Ram has in Store
Ram has been part of some exciting unveilings for the past ten years at the Chicago Auto Show. A few examples are the introduction of the Ram 3500/4500/5500 Heavy Duty Chassis Cab, Ram 1500 Laramie G/T, Ram 1500 Big Horn BackCountry, and Ram 1500 Rebel G/T. Moreover, the company recently ushered in the Ram 1500 Revolution Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) Concept at the Consumer Electronics Show, thus racing into the future while retaining the familiarity of the industry’s leading truck brand. The Chicago Auto Show will be the first time Ram will reveal the BEV pickup in an auto show circuit, so it will undoubtedly present a large helping of inventive characteristics that will be viewed in future Ram trucks, especially those that form part of the electric vehicle segment.
Ram will also commemorate a staggering 230,000 test rides given on the Ram Truck Territory test track, a similarly breathtaking experience to the one Jeep offers. Consumers can ride along in various automobiles to better understand the vehicles’ core capabilities, like torque, towing, technology, and payload, with off-road capabilities that include suspension and traction. Ram Mountain, for example, is a 13-foot high, 30-foot long course with a 30-degree incline and departure angles.
