Jeep Celebrates 80th Anniversary With a Special Edition Trim Across the Full Lineup

October 1st, 2020 by

Jeep, an automaker revered for its passion and iconic status in the heart of Americana, is celebrating its 80th birthday with special editions across its entire lineup. Although Jeep (Willys-Overland at the time) was not a registered trademark until 1950, the U.S. military solicited companies to pitch a design for what would become the World War II icon in 1940, with an official launch in 1941. Indeed, every 2021 Jeep vehicle gets an 80th Anniversary edition, with their arrival to dealerships programmed for the fourth quarter of the year. All models share the following design touches in common: an available Granite Crystal paint job with matching wheels, an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment display, Apple CarPlay, Google Android Auto, and anniversary badging.

“After nearly 80 years, the Jeep brand remains true to the original SUV by continuing to deliver legendary 4×4 capability that has enabled countless adventures and open-air freedom. As we celebrate our 80th anniversary, we’re pleased to provide our customers with 80th Anniversary models that offer a unique appearance, great value and loads of safety and technology features. As a tribute to our unique, enthusiastic and growing customer base, we are expanding our Jeep Wave customer care program across the entire Jeep vehicle lineup. We are pleased to reward our loyal customers with Jeep Wave premium service that offers peace of mind and no-charge maintenance for three years,” said Jim Morrison, Head of Jeep Brand  — FCA North America.

Prospective buyers can expect the 80th Anniversary special edition trims to arrive in dealerships during the fourth quarter of 2020. Not only will the 80th Anniversary models include commemorative badging, they’ll also have a distinct design both on the interior and exterior, unique wheel options, and a collection of advanced safety and technology features. As for the Jeep Wave Customer Care Program expansion, buyers can enjoy:

  • VIP access to exclusive Jeep events
  • First-day rental coverage
  • Trip interruption coverage
  • Access to 24/7 support via phone or chat
  • Three years of maintenance at Jeep dealerships, including tire rotations and oil changes

Common features across the 80th Anniversary Edition models include:

  • Fourth-generation Uconnect infotainment system
  • Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and SiriusXM Satellite radio
  • Wheels with a Granite Crystal finish
  • Light Tungsten interior accents
  • 80th Anniversary commemorative badging
  • 8.4-inch touchscreen display

The 2021 Jeep Wrangler 80th Anniversary Edition has the most generous commemorative packaging by far, given the fact that it’s modeled after the Willys-Overland original that started it all. Features include: all-terrain tires, body-color fender flares, remote start, Berber floor mats with Light Tungsten accent stitching, Natural Grey Metallic grille bezels, and Black diamond embossed cloth seats complete with an 80th Anniversary tag.
