Jeep Hints at All-Electric Wrangler with Drone Pairing and Autonomous Capability
Drone pairing and self-driving capability are some of Jeep’s upcoming all-electric Wrangler features. For Jeep fans and off-road enthusiasts, this is something to be excited about. Not only is Jeep planning on making its Wrangler platform more modernized and versatile, but the company is investing in the future of its lineup. Jeep believes that adding more technology and features that enhance drivers’ experience is the right strategy moving forward. Especially with first-time buyers of new vehicles, the driver’s experience is critical in getting a vehicle to sell.
Stellantis EV Day Event
During an EV Day Event, Jeep releases a video that shows a glimpse of what a Wrangler EV looks like, in addition to indicating the Wrangler’s ability to drive autonomously off-road by 2030. The Jeep in the video is similar to the two-door Jeep Magneto from the 2021 Jeep Safari. While this video is only a teaser, it is a sign of things to come.
A Futuristic EV Wrangler
Other features include biometric recognition, peer-to-peer charging, and driver-less navigation capability. Although little information is available about these features at the moment, Jeep is very likely going to release more details in the future. Nevertheless, Jeep states that it will have an electrified model in every vehicle segment it competes in by 2025. Jeep currently builds its Wrangler plug-in hybrid 4xe, but an all-electric Wrangler is soon to take over.
Zero Emission Freedom
Stellantis also announces Jeep’s new motto, “Zero Emission Freedom,” indicating Jeep’s mission to electrify its entire SUV lineup while still offering the same open-air driving fun that Jeep is known for. Jeep is spearheading a movement in support of electric powertrains while setting milestones to reduce CO2 emissions. Jeep is currently experimenting with the Wrangler Magneto Concept and developing its vehicle characteristics and functionality. Jeep considers its latest video a success in its marketing efforts because it reveals several critical movements for the company, including the transition to electric vehicles, improving the driving experience for consumers, and showcasing Jeep-branded charging stations. For consumers, this means having an all-electric Wrangler is possible in the near future doing away with gasoline engines that pollute the air. All-electric means the discontinuation of Jeep’s V6 and V8 engines in favor of battery fuel cells that make no noise.
