Back in June of 2023, spy photographers caught a glimpse of what was anticipated to be the 2024 Jeep Gladiator High Altitude. Nonetheless, they were puzzled why it did not make an appearance when the updated 2024 Gladiator was revealed at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. However, on April 8, 2024, enthusiasts received an answer to the vehicle originally spotted with the introduction of the 2024 Jeep Gladiator NightHawk. Indeed, hot on the heels of the awe-inspiring total solar eclipse, the Jeep brand is thrilled to unveil the NightHawk package for the 2024 Jeep Gladiator.

Styling Cues

Available on the entry-level Gladiator Sport trim, the NightHawk focuses on the black-out aesthetic with a few bespoke touches typically reserved for upper-tier trims. These upgrades include a body-color hardtop roof, 20-inch gloss black-painted aluminum wheels enveloped in all-terrain tires, and black bumper accents paired with body-colored fenders. The deep-tint sunscreen windows are aimed at keeping the harsh rays of the sun out of the cabin and work best with black or Anvil paint. To that end, buyers can also select from five other paint options:

  • Granite Crystal
  • Bright White
  • Firecracker Red
  • Hydro Blue
  • Silver Zynith

Off-Road Characteristics

Backing up the rugged exterior is an anti-spin differential on the rear axle, heavy-duty Dana 44 front and rear axles with a 3.73:1 axle ratio, and rock rails protecting the underbody. Bill Peffer, senior vice president and head of Jeep brand, explained the modifications made to the vehicle, declaring, ā€œToday, many of us will witness a celestial marvel, and here, back on Earth, the Jeep brand is marking the occasion with the introduction of the 2024 Jeep Gladiator NightHawk.ā€ He added, ā€œBuilt from the entry-level Sport model, the new NightHawk package adds both cosmetic and capability enhancements to the 2024 Jeep Gladiator Sport, including new, signature black exterior highlights, rugged all-terrain tires and Dana 44 front and rear axles.ā€Ā

Moreover, the NightHawk is powered by the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine, accelerating up to 285 horsepower and generating 260 pound-feet of torque. With unparalleled 4×4 capabilities and a versatile cargo box, this beast delivers a maximum towing capacity of up to 7,700 pounds and a best-in-class payload of up to 1,725 pounds. Additionally, the manufacturer took over the weather.com ā€œTodayā€ and ā€œ10 Dayā€ pages on April 8, 2024, during the eclipse, when numerous people might have been watching the site for live coverage of the solar eclipse. This gave the package a specially-themed digital marketing campaign, resulting in a savvy public relations move.

Limited to just 2,000 units for the United States and Canadian markets, orders are open, with the package adding an extra $5,295 MSRP to the asking price of the Gladiator Sport. As such, the 2024 Jeep Gladiator NightHawk has a price tag of $43,190 MSRP (Plus destination fee). Following a facelift for the 2024 model year, the Gladiator is now more capable and sophisticated than before. Now, with the NightHawk, the pickup truck gets an extra dose of style to coincide with a once-in-a-lifetime celestial event.
