Chrysler is getting ready to debut its first electric vehicle to the world as the market continues to plunge towards an electrified future. Chrysler had given us some insight into the 2025 Airflow concept back in April, which gave enthusiasts the chance to see what the brands’ plans for their electric century would look like. Now, as we get closer to the release of the Airflow, there are more updates on what the current Airflow concept will be like, such as features and aesthetics. At present, Chrysler’s Airflow concept is based on the STLA Platform, which is going to underpin the brand’s future electric journey. The concept is gearing up to be powered by a pair of two motors, each boasting 201 horsepower, that will be mated with a large battery to offer drivers 400 miles of impressive range. Chrysler may decide to use a single motor on the lower trims while keeping the two motor option for the higher trims that may even get an all-wheel-drive layout for a combined horsepower of 400. The chassis will offer buyers a 118 kWh flat battery to reach 400 miles of range with the possibility of a fast-charging option.
Exterior Details Emerge
Chrysler has decided on a more modern and sleek design for the Airflow concept to give it a more luxurious feel as it will be the company’s first electric vehicle. The streamlined exterior will help give the vehicle better aerodynamics to assist in providing a better EV range. The sleek design has been matched with a carefully selected color palette to match the interior of the vehicle for that modern look and feel. This is also achieved by the embellishing of Cyprus copper accents on the front grille, the pillars, and the tops of the panoramic glass roof and the wheels. LED lights are also fitted throughout the vehicle, like on the headlamps, a cross-car grille light blade, and tail lamps. The tail lamps will also include welcome gestures, departure, and other animated signs (including a charging sign) to give it more character and a strong road presence.
Interior Design Perks
The interior of the Airflow is just as impressive as the exterior. Chrysler took great care to present buyers with a vehicle that featured a spacious interior that was both upscale and comfortable to offer best-in-class treatment when seated inside. It offers a sophisticated feel thanks to the black or white soft-touch leatherette surfaces; piano black interior trims with brushed aluminum accents, and Cyprus Copper accents that adorn some part of the dashboard. The decision to place the motors at the front and back of the chassis also adds to Chrysler’s attention to detail to add more space to the interior cabin to fit everyone and everything comfortably.
Technology and Features
Within the Airflow and beyond the interior aesthetics, the features are just as stunning. The Airflow will feature a grand total of eight displays within the cabin, with the front of the vehicle having six of them. Both the left and right corners will have a small climate control display, the driver will have a high-resolution digital instrument cluster, and the dashboard will offer a pair of touchscreens (fitted with the latest infotainment– the STLA Brain and the STLA Smart Cockpit). The separate dashboard touchscreens will have one for the main infotainment and the other for seating controls. The front passenger will receive their own entertainment display, with the rear passengers receiving the same treatment in the back! The Airflow comes jam-packed with comfortable technological advancements to enhance the driving experience and keep passengers happy and entertained, and even give drivers and front passengers thigh and lumbar support with memory settings and a massage function! With the confirmation that Chrysler will offer STLA autonomous driving technologies, driving in comfort as safely as possible will bring road trips to a new level.
