Stellantis, Ram’s parent company, affirmed in an official press release that the Ram Revolution Concept that debuted at the Consumers Electronics Show in Las Vegas would receive the Ram 1500 REV when it arrives in the United States mass market as a production all-electric full-size pickup truck. It was previously declared that Ram filed for a trademark application under the category of “Land vehicles, namely, passenger trucks,” for a vehicle dubbed Ram 1500 REV. Now, the American company validates what was reported back in December 2022. Stellantis does not disclose too much information but reveals that its first-ever all-electric pickup truck will enter production in 2024, with an official premiere taking place sometime in the 2023 model year.

According to Mike Koval Jr., Ram brand CEO, “At Ram, we started a revolution last year as we invited consumers along on the beginning of our electrification journey, gathering their feedback on exactly what they are looking for in an electric pickup truck. We look forward to delivering our first EV pickup – the all-new Ram 1500 REV – to those consumers next year. We are confident the Ram 1500 REV will push past the competition, offering the leading combination of attributes customers care about the most: range, payload, towing, and charge time.” More details came to the fore on February 12, 2023, which was an ingenious idea given that was the date of the Super Bowl.

Super Bowl Commercial

As expected, an advertisement revolving around Ram’s latest creation appeared on the screen during the big game. The brand’s 60-second television commercial, “Premature Electrification,” unveiled a Ram 1500 REV that does not resemble the production variant of the 1500 Revolution BEV concept. For example, enthusiasts had speculated that the physical version of the pickup truck would present features such as an induction charging robot. This extended pass-through stretched from the enormous front trunk to the automobile’s bed, rear-wheel steering, and three-row seating.

Instead, the exterior design is styled more along the lines of an electrified iteration of Ram’s current 1500 pickup truck. That, however, may prove to be a clever idea in the long run, as Ford has already found a tremendously favorable outcome by relying on a similar method for the F-150 Lightning. Taking a close inspection of the Ram 1500 REV, the manufacturer seems to have erred on the side of caution to a moderate degree by incorporating the futuristic without disregarding the familiar.

In other words, the electric pickup truck combines a few side body panels with the internal combustion engine-powered truck. In contrast, the front and rear ends are characterized by more specific features. Those features include illuminated Ram lettering on the faux grille, headlights with a particular LED designation that harkens back to the 1500 Revolution BEV approach, aggressive-looking bumpers and hood, and L-shaped taillights.

A Glance at the Future

The commercial also offers a peek at the interior, more specifically, the dashboard, thus showcasing another connection between the electric vehicle and its current gas-powered counterpart. For example, the center console and the large UConnect touchscreen display look uncannily similar. Interestingly, Ford does not seem to be the only brand that has positively influenced Ram’s creativity because the battery-powered pickup truck also incorporates a screen for the front passenger – an element commonly seen in high-tier Jeep trims.

As revealing as the ad was, it is clear that Ram does not want to enter into too much detail, as no specifications were mentioned. Rumors suggest that the automobile will be launched with dual-motor all-wheel drive, an 800-volt architecture, and a maximum charging rate of 350 kilowatts that can add 100 miles of range in 10 minutes.

Even though the 1500 REV will arrive in dealerships in late 2024, Ram’s CEO’s statement underscores the brand’s commitment to making driving an electric vehicle an immersive experience.
