On March 20th, 2023, Dodge is set to launch the seventh, conclusive “Last Call” event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. It will be a bittersweet commemoration, marking the farewell to the current Dodge Charger and Challenger. There, Dodge will introduce a lineup of “Last Call” trims. That is to say; there will be a series of seven limited-edition vehicles that will soon be discontinued from the Challenger and Charger trims.

The aggressive V-8s and their special editions will include a Charger Super Bee and a Challenger Shakedown, each with a distinctive appearance. The brand is also prepared to unveil two “Swinger” cars for both the Charger and Challenger arrangements, a quick acknowledgment of the iconic namesake. Mopar enthusiasts can even glance at the dynamic, Hellcat-carrying beasts that are the Charger King Daytona and the Challenger Black Ghost. The series will culminate with a record-breaking Challenger that could be potent enough to draw attention away from the esteemed Demon. The seventh and final vehicle is conceivably the most highly-expected automobile of the bunch. Like the rest, it will be an allusion to another part of the Dodge muscle car tradition, but, as things stand, the brand has yet to disclose any further information.

Marking the End of an Era

Several readers may wonder why Dodge is bidding goodbye to a slew of popular trims. The reason is the automaker’s belief that it is time to move away from the internal combustion engine in favor of an electrified future. Fear not, however. Even though the Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger will no longer exist in their current HEMI-engine-powered forms after 2023, there is the genuine possibility that they will come back as electric vehicles.

The Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Concept will be on full display at the Las Vegas celebration, emphasizing Dodge’s commitment to electrification. The coupe is supposed to be a perception-altering showcase of what a muscle car has the potential to be. According to Tim Kuniskis, Dodge brand chief executive officer, “The Dodge ‘Last Call’ event will be a celebration of Dodge performance. While the ‘Last Call’ special-edition model we will reveal at Las Vegas and the electrified Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Concept represent different performance eras for our brand, both are linked by a commitment to delivering the Brotherhood of Muscle: a vehicle that drives like a Dodge, looks like a Dodge and sounds like a Dodge.”

The CEO is not exaggerating when he states that Dodge seeks to enhance the muscle car experience rather than eliminate it because the Daytona SRT will supposedly have an 800-volt electrical structure known as Banshee. The specifications concerning the powertrain are still unknown to the public, although the brand insists that it will be more agile than a Hellcat.

The Beginning of Something New

Even though the discontinuation of certain Dodge automobiles will take place, and the automaker is leaning toward the production of electric vehicles, it does not seem like the brand wants drivers to mourn the muscle car just yet. On the contrary, the brand-new Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Concept was created to push forward Dodge’s bold tradition to grow into the future of electrified muscle.

While the cars will, of course, be the stars of the event, it is also meant to be a family-oriented occasion. The performance festival will have drag racing on The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, a Dodge car show, a post-event afterglow, Dodge Thrill Rides, and celebrity appearances. Interested viewers can even Livestream the event at DodgeGarage.com.

The Dodge Daytona SRT Concept is still just an idea, but Dodge has a knack for producing brash-looking automobiles, and if it drives as brazenly as it looks, the future appears bright.
