Edison & Ford Winter Estates Holiday Tours
Feeling like seeing a bit of history? The Edison & Ford Winter Estates Holiday Tour is a little something for everyone. For those that like to learn about history, these tours take patrons through the Edison & Ford Winter Estates, including two historic homes overlooking the broad Caloosahatchee River, gardens, and a museum on a site once owned by Thomas Edison and Henry Ford. The 20-acre estate really lights things up during the Holiday Nights Event.
Although the tree lighting ceremony has passed, the tours are still available for patrons until December 30, 2018. From 5:30 – 9pm, the white picket fences enclosing the estates are decked out with greenery and lights, trees all over the garden sparkle with colorful lights, and the two historic homes are decorated with Christmas trees and other holiday decor to simulate the feeling of a real life family spending the holidays at home. The Holiday Nights event includes live music, food, beverages, special activities, and visits by Santa himself.
Annual Holiday House at Burroughs Home and Gardens
On the opposite side of downtown, the Burroughs Home is 1.5 miles northeast of the Edison & Ford Winter Estates. A 2.45-acre lot on First Street, in the shadow of the Edison Bridge, the Burroughs Home and Gardens are open to the public for guided tours year-round. During the month of December, a Holiday House event takes place, where the homes and gardens are beautifully decorated for the Holidays by the Fort Myers Woman’s Community Club. The event also includes the neighboring Langford-Kinston House.
