Dodge knows just how important car security is for muscle car owners; therefore, the company is taking critical steps in implementing anti-theft systems to thwart carjacking efforts. Three new security solutions by Dodge include Enhanced Security Mode, Key Programming Lockdown, and the Intrusion Module. The first security system is relatively simple; it uses a four-digit code that limits the engine’s output to three horsepower and prevents fast getaways. The system is available upon request at Dodge dealerships as a flash software upgrade free of charge for all 2021 Dodge Challengers and Chargers with 392-cubic-inch HEMIⓇ or Supercharged Hellcat HEMI engines.

Key Programming Lockdown

The Key Programming Lockdown feature prevents thieves from programming new key fobs after breaking into a vehicle. Dodge programmed this feature’s availability for early 2022 and can be applied to 2015-to-current model year Challenger and Charger models with any engine option. The system works by locking the internal vehicle key system that prevents thieves from tampering with the ignition. The company is confident this anti-theft system will give muscle car owners extra peace of mind when they leave their vehicle parked for extended periods of time.

The Intrusion Module

Perhaps the most important of all the security features is the Intrusion Module, an enhanced vehicle alarm system that activates when it senses window breaking or unusual vehicle movement. Dodge plans on making the module available on all 2022 Chargers and Challengers moving forward with it being standard on Scat Pack and SRT Hellcat models (while being optional on SXT, GT, and R/T models). The module also includes an inclination sensor that activates the security alarm when the vehicle is being towed away.

Mopar Electronic Vehicle Tracking System

Owners also benefit from Mopar’s Electronic Vehicle Tracking System (EVTS) that monitors a vehicle’s movement when someone else is driving it. The system costs $495; however, it’s essential to understand that it does not prevent someone from stealing a vehicle. If the car does disappear, Mopar EVTS provides live tracking services that can locate a stolen vehicle via Guidepoint Systems.
