Upcoming Jeep, Ram Trucks Models Scheduled for Production

August 12th, 2020 by

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) was excited to discuss hotly-anticipated products during its Q2 2020 meeting more than anything else. FCA confirmed that Ram will finally enter the production phase of its Rebel TRX model. Once FCA’s Warren Truck Plant is shut down and retooled later this year, the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer models will also go into production. Both of these upcoming debuts indicate that FCA is moving full-steam ahead with the production plans it unveiled a few years ago — it’s only a matter of time before hybrid and electric powertrains become more of the norm on any given FCA lineup, be it Jeep, Ram, Chrysler, or Dodge.

First up is the 2021 Ram Rebel TRX model. Ram Trucks already announced that the high-powered off-road pickup will debut sometime this summer (2020). FCA’s financial report indicates that TRX production kicks off in the fourth quarter of this year — meaning less than two months from now (Aug. 2020)! The Ram Rebel TRX is the brand’s answer to the popular Ford Raptor model, one of the only full-size pickups to enter the off-road pickup segment. Ram is poised to stand out and set the TRX model apart with its powertrain. In hopes of squashing the competition, rumor has it that Ram is going to place the supercharged Hellcat engine under the hood. The 6.2-liter V8 engine generates up to 707 horsepower, although it seems like Ram will also offer the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine as well.

A super beefed up pickup isn’t the only new addition headed to FCA. Soon enough, Jeep will debut a pair of three-row SUVs when the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer arrive. These two new models will slot above the next-generation Grand Cherokee model as the Jeep brand finally introduces three-row options to its overall lineup. Retooling of the Warren Truck Plant is scheduled for October (2020), before production of the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer kicks off during the second quarter of 2021.Once the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer get rolling, Jeep will begin production on the next-generation Grand Cherokee during the third quarter of 2021.

The latest rumors indicate that the Grand Wagoneer might be destined to be Jeep’s hybrid technology powerhouse. Plenty of screens, a luxurious interior, a vast 12-inch infotainment display, and a digital instrument cluster are some of the expected features on the upcoming Grand Wagoneer. Some experts even think Jeep will offer a customizable screen for the front passenger and another for the rear passengers when it comes to infotainment. As with any other automaker plan, these dates are all subject to change. FCA has already experienced several production delays — including some of these products being delayed — due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Here’s hoping there’s nothing to stop FCA as these hotly-anticipated vehicles get closer and closer to their respective launch dates.
